Planning commission approves Crowell subdivision and small rezoning for single‑family home

The Decatur County Area Plan Commission voted to approve an application by Nathan Crowell to subdivide approximately 5 acres from a 160‑acre parcel and to rezone roughly 2.99 acres from A‑1 to A‑2 for construction of a single‑family detached house.

Crowell told the commission he previously pursued the rezoning but did not complete the survey; the current request is essentially the same plan and includes authorization for a pole barn, an approved septic system, and a planned well. Staff reviewed the submitted packet and indicated no outstanding issues.

Commissioners asked clarifying questions about access and water; the applicant said most neighboring properties use wells. No members of the public raised objections during the hearing. A motion to approve the application carried with recorded affirmative votes from the commissioners present.

Staff advised the applicant to coordinate with the county office when it is time to apply for building permits and related approvals.
