Engineer reports progress on Springfield Road, Oak Avenue work; PennDOT coordination expected

An engineer reported that work crews are applying a double base coat (base and binder) on Springfield Road and moving quickly in sections that have not encountered bedrock. The engineer said crews are trying to accelerate work toward Oak Avenue.

The engineer said Sycamore Road is beginning to see binder work and inlet installation and that staff hopes to finish before winter. He said PennDOT has discussed allowing extended continuous work windows for milling and binding — for example, closing a road from about 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a few days — to avoid repeated setup and barricading time lost to short daily shifts.
