Council approves routine bills, permits, engineering supervision and community events

At its April 14 meeting the Gibson City Council approved a package of routine bills, permits, small contracts and community event requests.
Finance: Alderman Sarah Sarantakos moved to approve a bond check for $1,245; Alderman Randy Wyant seconded and the motion carried 8-0. Alderman Ray Hankes moved to approve a TIF-2 check for $400; Alderman Denis Fisher seconded, motion carried 8-0. Alderman Ray Hankes then moved to approve general fund checks totaling $488,880.99; Alderman Sarantakos seconded and the motion carried 8-0.
Community events: Jim Peters, representing the GC Lion's Club, requested permission for annual candy sales on May 16 (7 a.m.-5 p.m.) and May 17 (7 a.m.-11 a.m.) at intersections of Sangamon & 8th and Route 47N & 8th; the council approved the request. Frankie and Ivy Ward requested reservation of North Park for "All Awareness Day" on July 20 with no setup fee for vendors; council approved the park reservation.
Permits and contracts: Supt. Martin explained IDOT requires a formal resolution and permits to allow access off Route 47 into Falcon Pointe for a new well; the council approved the required resolution and permits. The council approved Heartland Bank credit-card changes removing Brad Duncan and adding Wastewater Superintendent John Bobera with a $5,000 limit; the administrative limit remains $2,500 and the card's overall maximum is $20,000. Mayor Dickey said Farnsworth Engineers will supervise storm sewer extension work between Railside Estates and the Villas of Hollybrook under Task Order 2025-02 for an amount not to exceed $9,200; the council authorized payment.
Parks and pool: Alderman Susie Tongate reported Friday Night Car Cruises will begin in May. Alderman Sarantakos said engineers submitted pool plans with changes and IDPH variance requests; the council expects an answer on variances and plans to put the pool project out for bid as soon as possible.
