Town updates grant status: $27,825 EECBG award for community-center lighting; EPA, cultural-capital and USDA grants pending

Town staff provided a grants update on Jan. 7. The Utah Office of Energy Development has awarded $27,825 under the EECBG program to fund interior and limited exterior lighting upgrades at the community center, including fixtures for the senior center and restrooms. Staff said they are finalizing the government-agency agreement and will circulate it to council for approval once minor edits are made.
Staff also reported progress on other grant matters: the EPA environmental justice (EJ) grant has tentatively approved a new subrecipient and staff supplied additional documentation; the cultural capital grant has an extension for remaining funds (approximately $41,000) through June; and the USDA fire-suppression grant has not produced recent updates, so staff will follow up with USDA personnel to ensure the town remains on track.
Councilors asked staff to confirm any address and spelling corrections in draft agreements and to schedule the EECBG agency signature for the next work session when the document is finalized.
