The Town of Bluff Planning and Zoning Commission interviewed two candidates — Anne Brown and Gary Hawes — for one open seat on Feb. 6.
Anne Brown said she has long experience building, renovating and restoring homes, has worked on commercial retail projects, and emphasized a desire to plan proactively for future commercial sales and to protect night‑sky ordinances. She said she can commit approximately 1–4 hours per week to the voluntary position and that Bluff is her primary residence.
Gary Hawes described a 30‑year law enforcement career and volunteer experience resolving neighbor and community conflicts. He emphasized the need for a clear planning commission mission statement, consistent enforcement, and collaboration with residents. He said he is a Bluff resident and able to meet the volunteer time expectations.
Because the commission had not placed a formal appointment vote on the Feb. 6 agenda, members agreed to schedule a special meeting on Feb. 13 to make a recommendation to town council. The commission thanked both candidates for their time and encouraged them to remain on the line while the commission continued the agenda.
No appointment was made at the Feb. 6 meeting.
