Brandon Valley Intermediate staff highlighted for years of service and student investment

The presentation highlighted staff experience, a poster project showing years in education and degrees, and a reading of Linda Ellis’ poem “The Dash.”
The presenter said the project asked staff to list combined years in education, schools taught, degrees and a piece of advice; those entries are displayed on posters in the school entryway. “What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash,” the presenter read from the poem and asked the board to consider staff careers at BVIS in that light.
The presenter noted two long-serving staff members are retiring this year, including one with more than 40 years of service, and said the district’s people are its most valuable asset. The school distributed shirts to staff this year showing each person’s starting year at Brandon Valley, the presenter said, as a way to honor longevity and continuity of service.
Board members thanked the presenter and praised the school’s culture and leadership. The board heard the report during the general business oral reports portion of the meeting.
