Public comment on short‑term rentals: During the public‑comment period a neighborhood resident, Randy Adams, told the board a short‑term rental next to his home has generated noise, trespassing and management‑enforcement problems since June of the prior year. Adams said the rental is unregulated at the county level, and that property managers have deflected responsibility. He asked what the county can do to regulate short‑term rentals and whether commissioners can begin a process to consider licensing or other controls.
Staff response: County staff said code enforcement has procedures to investigate land‑use and nuisance complaints and that code staff and a deputy county manager would follow up with the resident. Commissioners said they are compiling information and lessons from other jurisdictions and said they would consider options and outreach to platforms and stakeholders while staff researches potential regulations.
The motion: Board member moved and seconded approval of VAC2024‑4; motion passed 5‑0. Staff said the actual dedication correcting the legal description will be processed and recorded as directed by county procedures.
