Angola council approves routine financial items, carries forward 2024 projects

Angola City Council at its Feb. 3 meeting approved routine financial items including minutes, the second reading of a zoning map amendment and a resolution to appropriate carryover funds for projects encumbered in 2024.

The council approved the Jan. 21 minutes by voice vote. Council also approved Ordinance 17-70-20-25 on second reading, which amends the zoning map for property at 1815 North State Road 827. The council approved Resolution 20-25-8-87 to carry forward funds for projects that had purchase orders written in 2024; Ryan (city finance staff) explained these are expenses encumbered in the prior year and the resolution formalizes their appropriation in 2025.

Council approved a list of outstanding, unpaid checks from 2022 totaling $756.78 to be declared canceled; staff said these were checks that were written but never cashed, largely for water and sewer bills. The council also approved accounts payable vouchers numbered 72,580 through 7200776 totaling $822,812.76.

The clerk reminded the council of a special meeting next Monday at 7:00 p.m. for additional readings on ordinance items. Staff provided a brief update on AIF, reporting one applicant moving forward and another considering applying; staff said they may request council help promoting the program in the future.
