Commissioners approve tourism vehicle, Central Pender Park playground purchase and transfer of housing sale proceeds

Tourism: Tourism director Miss Dawson told commissioners the department had no county vehicles and staff had been using personal vehicles and seeking mileage reimbursement. She requested a 2025 van (Voyager or Pacifica) at a state contract rate of $41,993; staff noted used vehicles are available at lower cost. Commissioners debated repurposing idle fleet vehicles versus purchasing a new van. The motion to approve the vehicle and the associated budget amendment passed; a roll call during discussion recorded the vote as 3–2.
Parks: Staff presented a purchase order for playground equipment at Central Pender Park, a project already in the park project budget and under original estimates. Commissioners approved the purchase order by voice vote.
Housing Authority: The board approved a budget ordinance amendment to transfer $545,679.53 from the general fund to the housing authority, representing proceeds from the sale of the Country Court apartment property. The housing authority director said the transfer restores funds that were written to the general fund at the time of sale.
These items were approved without separate public hearings; staff said additional procurement and budget implementation steps would follow according to standard county procedures.
