Board recognizes South Lenoir land-judging team and local graduates

The Lenoir County Board of Education recognized student achievements and announced upcoming graduations during its June 2014 meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Mazingo invited members of the South Lenoir land-judging team forward to acknowledge their seventh-place finish in the national competition in Oklahoma City and singled out Garrett Hartman for placing 11th in scoring out of 200 FFA participants. Staff and trustees praised the team and the teacher for their performance and allowed a photograph to be taken.
The board also recognized Justin Ward for graduating from the online program of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in addition to his local diploma; Ward was named a North Carolina Academic Scholar and said he plans to attend UNC Chapel Hill.
Administrators provided graduation logistics: Lenoir County Learning Academy graduation was scheduled for Thursday, June 12 at 9:30 a.m.; South Lenoir High School, Saturday, June 14 at 10 a.m.; Kinston High School, Saturday, June 14 at 2 p.m.; and North Lenoir High School, Saturday, June 14 at 6 p.m.
