The Yadkin County Board of Commissioners voted June 3 to enter into a contract with Michael Silverman to serve as the county manager.
After reconvening from closed session, Commissioner Cliff Collins moved to enter into the contract; Vice Chairman Frank Zachary seconded and the motion passed 5-0. Commissioner Ricky Oliver then moved to approve an agreement for Silverman to work with current County Manager Lisa Hughes during the transition; Collins seconded and that motion also passed 5-0.
The actions concluded the closed-session deliberations the board had continued from its June 2 meeting. The board returned to open session and recessed until the evening budget work session began.
No additional terms of the contract were stated in the public minutes; the board recorded the votes and directed that a transition agreement would allow Silverman to work with Hughes during the handover period.
The meeting later adjourned on a 5-0 vote.
