Pasquotank commissioners uphold three tax assessments on Dollar General properties

The Pasquotank County Board of Equalization and Review, convened May 5 as part of the Board of Commissioners' meeting, heard three appeals from entities operating Dollar General stores and upheld the county’s assessed valuations in each case.
TECDG LLC (DBA Dollar General) appealed the assessment on parcel P124-21 at 1903 Weeksville Road, assessed at $1,078,500; the taxpayer requested a reduction to $1,001,144 but was not present. The board, after presentations by Tax Administrator Patrice Stewart and Appraiser Sharon Cooper, voted to uphold the assessment. Motion to uphold was made by Sam Davis and seconded by Charles Jordan and carried unanimously.
KC Enterprises (DBA Dollar General) appealed parcel 31-C-16A at 401 W. Ehringhaus Street, assessed at $1,186,700 with a requested reduction to $1,129,095; the taxpayer did not attend. The board, after county staff presentation, upheld the assessment by unanimous motion from Sam Davis, seconded by Jonathan Meads.
FSC DG Eliz City NC LLC (DBA Dollar General) appealed parcel P124A-123 at 1412 N. Road Street, assessed at $980,100 with a requested reduction to $702,966; the taxpayer did not attend. County staff noted discrepancies on the taxpayers' request letters and the board upheld the Tax Office assessments unanimously (motion by Charles Jordan, seconded by Clifford Shaw).
Attorney Mike Cox recessed the Board of Equalization and Review until May 19, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. for its required second meeting; one additional appeal was filed the day of the meeting and will be heard on May 19.
