The meeting opened with the oath of office for newly elected board members and the superintendent. Multiple members repeated the sworn oath to support the U.S. Constitution and the New York State Constitution and to faithfully discharge the duties of their office.
Following the oath, the board moved to nomination and election of officers. A motion to close nominations and cast a vote elected Sarah Fitzgerald as board president (vote described as eight in favor during the roll call) and Rebecca Cohen as vice president (vote reported as nine in favor). The board then approved a revised meeting agenda and proceeded with routine appointments and authorizations presented under consent items.
