Pasquotank County approves consent agenda including EMS rate increases and $50,000 for IT equipment

The Pasquotank County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a consent agenda May 5 that bundled minutes, tax releases and multiple administrative and budget items recommended by the Finance Committee.
Key items approved under the consent agenda included funding for sheriff’s deputies to staff the Potato Festival and Coast Guard Marathon—175 hours estimated for the Potato Festival at $45 per hour (overtime cost $7,875) and 63 hours for the Coast Guard Marathon—combined estimated overtime of $10,710 if both events use the approved hours; an increase in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) rates with several line-item adjustments planned to take effect July 1, 2025; and approval to use $50,000 of unbudgeted interest earnings to purchase IT capital items (including Office 365 conversion and network switch upgrades).
Other consent items approved were a three-year lease agreement (nominal rent of $1.00) for Probation & Parole office space totaling approximately 3,350 square feet across two locations, approval of a listing agreement with NAI Tri Properties for the Sentara Albemarle Medical Center property, and a contingent allocation of $2,500 from the county’s portion of TDA funds for Juneteenth programming (contingent on matching funds from the city and TDA).
The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Vice-Chairman Clifford Shaw and seconded by Commissioner Jonathan Meads and carried unanimously.
