Amanda Lomnick, airport director, presented the bid tabulation for the Runway 6/24 lighting, signage and marking project and recommended awarding the contract to H.L. Pruett Corporation. "We are wanting to award to H L Pruett corporation in the amount of $340,785," Lomnick said, adding the firm has prior experience working at the airport.
Lomnick told commissioners the project carries no direct fiscal impact to the city because it is 90% reimbursed by the Federal Aviation Administration and 10% reimbursed by the Florida Department of Transportation. She said H.L. Pruett's bid was substantially lower than some competitors and attributed part of the difference to lower mobilization and overhead costs.
Construction is expected to begin before the end of the year. The work session did not include final contract authorization; the bid award will be presented for formal action on the commission docket.
