Council plans joint entities meeting to review crisis‑response partners and 911 transfer challenges

Council discussion identified likely participants to include community behavioral‑health organizations, Johnson County ambulance or county community paramedic program staff, the Johnson County dispatch/911 authority (JACC), and county staff members such as Keanna Pope who liaise between the sheriff and social‑services programs. Councilors recommended short timed presentations (suggested 7–15 minutes per presenter) with questions held until the end, and asked staff and councilors to “wrangle folks” and prepare a simple agenda that clarifies the role each representative will play.

Councilors said they wanted the joint entities meeting to focus on operational differences among crisis‑response approaches (community‑based outreach, co‑response, community paramedics and 911 dispatch modifications) and on how jurisdictional responsibility affects funding and program design. One councilor noted recent county coordination at a Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee meeting and suggested the joint entities meeting should include broader information sharing to avoid siloed efforts.

Staff indicated it will follow up on invitations, work with councilors to refine the meeting title and order of presenters, and return with a proposed agenda that includes time limits and a reserved question period.
