City auditor reports unmodified opinion; commission adopts 2024 comprehensive financial report

Stacy Hammond, partner at BT and Company, told the Atchison City Commission that the firm had conducted the city—s annual financial statement audit in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards, government auditing standards, single audit requirements and state guidance. Hammond said the auditors examined evidence on a test basis, reviewed accounting policies and significant estimates, and concluded the financial statements were presented fairly in all material respects, leading to an unmodified opinion.
Hammond told commissioners the audit included review of a newly implemented accounting standard for compensated absences and that the auditors found the city—s significant accounting estimates to be reasonable. She said there were no disagreements with management, no significant difficulties performing the audit and that management was transparent and cooperative.
Commissioners thanked the finance team; the commission then moved, seconded and adopted the 2024 annual comprehensive financial report as presented.
