At its July 7 meeting the Portage County Finance Committee recorded these actions and outcomes.
- Approval of minutes (June 23, 2025): Motion to approve the minutes was made and seconded; approved by voice vote.
- Grant: North Central Regional Trauma Advisory Council (NCR-TAC) award to the Sheriff's office, $3,000: Motion to approve; seconded; approved by voice vote.
- Resolution authorizing three full-time equivalent and two part-time justice program positions: Motion to approve; seconded (second recorded by Louisa Moreci/Rockman); approved by voice vote. Staff said the contracting provider terminated its contract with the county; the contract ends Sept. 12, 2025, prompting the in-house staffing move. Staff will prepare a 2025 budget amendment to account for the transition.
- Final reconciliation for fiscal year 2024 (all county funds): Finance staff presented a modified reconciliation with an accounting entry for retainage payable affecting the capital improvement fund and a correction to library vehicle/carryforward entries; motion to approve; seconded; approved by voice vote.
The committee discussed the proposed 2026-2031 capital improvement plan but took no vote; staff said the plan is posted on the county website and will be presented to the full board in August for action.
