Coos County commissioners on July 1 authorized the rehiring of Mike Krim under the county retiree policy and approved a payroll resolution to allow continued county compensation concurrent with PERS retirement.
County counsel worked with the board to amend the motion language; the board’s action directs human resources and legal counsel to prepare the final agreement consistent with the retiree policy. The county recorded that the action is intended to allow Krim, who leads parole and probation, to remain in his role and continue receiving county pay while drawing retirement benefits under PERS.
Commissioners noted that bringing retirees back to work had been discouraged in the past but that maintaining Krim’s experience during recent structural transitions in community corrections made the rehiring appropriate. The motion passed on a recorded voice vote and the board signed the accompanying payroll resolution.
