The Finance & Claims Committee on July 10 approved corrected minutes from its June 12, 2025 meeting and advanced a claims matter involving a duplicate tax payment.
At the start of the meeting council members proposed corrections to the draft minutes — including spelling for Gino Gato and updating Mark Conte’s title to deputy fire chief — and the committee approved the minutes with those corrections. The motion to accept the minutes was moved by Council Member Heather Dunn and carried by a voice/hand vote; the record shows three members voting in favor and one member, Doug Sutton, recorded as abstaining.
The committee also reviewed a claims committee report that included a request to refund a duplicate tax payment of $14,429.56 made by both a taxpayer escrow agent and a closing attorney. The committee voted unanimously to approve the claims committee recommendation and will move the refund request to the Common Council on July 22 for final approval.
Ending: The committee completed routine housekeeping items, approved corrected minutes, and forwarded the duplicate-payment claim to the Common Council.
