The city’s purchasing agent presented the quarterly procurement report (April 1–June 30) and the Finance & Claims Committee approved an added authorization for a five-year lease-to-own agreement for library printers.
Sharon Connors, purchasing agent, reported roughly a dozen purchases in the quarter between $25,000 and $100,000 that totaled $590,821.89, with many items sourced through state or cooperative contracts. She emphasized that multiyear and single-source contracts still require Common Council authorization.
The committee suspended the rules to add a library-item authorization and unanimously approved an agreement to authorize the mayor to execute a five-year, 60-month agreement with Connecticut Business Systems (CBS/Xerox) for library printers. The authorization limits annual spending to $7,032 and totals no more than $35,160; Sheryl Harris, library director, said the contract is effectively a rental-to-own arrangement and should reduce overage charges with higher included monthly page counts (6,000 black and 4,000 color prints per month as discussed).
The committee will forward the printer authorization to the full Common Council on July 22 for final approval; the quarterly procurement report remains informational.
Ending: The committee accepted the quarterly procurement report and approved adding the library-printer lease-to-own authorization for council consideration.
