The Oak Hills Park Authority reported to Norwalk’s Finance & Claims Committee on July 10 that May 2025 produced stronger-than-expected golf revenue and that planned capital work and equipment leases will continue into the next fiscal year.
Denise Brown, representing the Oak Hills Park Authority, said May was an "exceptional" month driven by golf rounds. She reported revenue for the month was about $241,000 over budget while expenses were roughly $9,000 over budget, leaving a favorable month-to-month position as the authority closed its 11th month of the fiscal year. "We've paid the city for the past 11 months almost a $120,000," Brown said, and the authority plans to continue capital improvements.
Planned capital work for the coming fiscal year includes completion of a two-phase bunker project (second half estimated at about $180,000), cart-path repairs (approximately $70,000), and a well (around $40,000), with other minor items bringing the projected total close to $300,000. Brown said the authority holds a reserve of about $450,000 in money-market and CD accounts and expects to cover most work from operations and reserves without asking the city for additional funding.
The authority reported the restaurant is improving sales through private events, cart lease replacement will need negotiation in winter, and the tennis center remains operational but may require future irrigation work. The committee accepted the presentation; no council action was required beyond the informational update.
Ending: Oak Hills presented a positive financial snapshot, outlined capital plans and confirmed reserves that can be used for improvements.
