Nixa council approves manhole lining, water‑tower solicitation and $450,000 micropaving contract

"We're gonna do about, 90 manholes this year to keep groundwater and stuff from polluting our sewer system," Water Superintendent Jason Stutzman said, describing the I&I (inflow and infiltration) reduction effort.
The council then approved Resolution 2025‑34, authorizing the city to solicit qualifications from engineering firms to perform required water‑tower inspections and maintenance under Department of Natural Resources rules; no contract dollar amount was included in the resolution. Stutzman said the city is required to inspect towers every five years and expects to select a certified engineering firm to perform cleaning, inspection and disinfection work.
Finally, Resolution 2025‑35 authorized a not‑to‑exceed contract of $450,000 with Donaldson Construction Company LLC for micropaving, a pavement‑preservation product. Street Superintendent Jeff Purcell said the work would cover approximately 3.5 miles and is intended to seal hairline cracks and add skid resistance without the higher cost of mill‑and‑overlay.
Votes and procedure: Each resolution was read, the council received brief presentations from department staff, and council members moved, seconded and approved each item by unanimous voice vote with all present saying "aye." The meeting record indicates the motions were made as follows: Resolution 2025‑33 (moved by Councilmember Aaron Peterson; second by Darlene Graham), Resolution 2025‑34 (moved by Kelly Morris; second by Zern West), and Resolution 2025‑35 (moved by Sean Lucas; second by Kelly Morris).
