Sean, a city staff member, delivered the staff report on July 8 with updates on several public works projects.
He said Park Center is substantially complete for water, sewer and paving; remaining near-term work includes signage at medians and a roundabout plus a streetscape phase that will add sidewalks and landscaping in the district. Sean said those remaining Park Center tasks are expected to start within two to four weeks.
On the 2024 Street Rehabilitation Program, Sean said the final segment on Grove Street is complete, and the treatment used on that segment is a more durable 5x5-plus treatment (described by staff as longer-lasting). The 2025 Street Rehabilitation Program has an open advertisement and a bid opening scheduled for July 17; council will consider awards at the July 22 meeting.
On stormwater, Sean reported work on Channel 6 (running from Mobile Drive to Hartford Drive to East Parkview Street). Mobile Drive is closed to through traffic starting the day of the meeting; staff said closures of each affected street are expected to last roughly 30 days as work progresses sequentially from Mobile Drive to Hartford Drive and then East Parkview Street. Channel 4 improvements were expected to start in August.
Sean also thanked Public Works, the Police Department, and the Community Relations Board for organizing Fourth of July events.
No formal council action was required on these updates at the meeting.
