Council authorizes $5,422.50 change order for Drexel Lift Station

A utility staff member explained the change order includes a mix of credits and added items: substitution of a backflow-prevention valve, grout (chemical injection) work on a pipe to address infiltration and inflow, and continued rental of a cellular modem alarm used during construction while the permanent fiber-optic connection is completed. "We're renting it as well to provide those alarms while we're waiting for the fiber optic to get installed," the utility staff member said, noting the rental will likely continue about another month and may add roughly $1,000 next month.
The staff member said the project is functioning and "it's running now and it's functioning correctly and happy with what's been done there," but some punch-list and retainage remain until final railroad permit approval and closeout.
A motion to authorize the utility engineer to approve the change order was moved and seconded and passed on roll call.
