The Cohoes City School District Board of Education completed reorganization tasks and routine approvals July 2, electing board leadership, administering oaths and adopting a consent agenda of resolutions.
The board opened nominations and, by roll call, elected Margaret Geller president for the 2025–26 school year. The board then opened nominations and elected Richard (Rick) Jackson vice president; the district clerk administered the oaths of office to both officers.
The district clerk also administered oaths to the ex officio student board member Britney Valencia and an alternate, and to newly appointed board members whose terms run through 2027–28. The board voted to appoint Ashley Simmons as district clerk for 2025–26 and administered her oath.
The board then approved a package of reorganization and business resolutions designated for the consent agenda (items listed on the July 2 agenda including 6a–m, 7a–d, 8a and 10a) by roll call; the board also accepted a donation from the Abraham Lansing parent-teacher organization for field-trip transportation and noted first readings of several policies.
Before adjourning the reorganizational portion, the board voted to end the reorganization meeting at 6:15 p.m. and reconvene as the regular business meeting.
