District says Northern Rivers will reduce in-district services; staff exploring grant and virtual alternatives

Superintendent O'Shea informed the board on July 2 that Northern Rivers, the district's behavioral-health services contractor, must reduce its onsite presence from four days per week to two days per week under the existing fee-for-service arrangement.
O'Shea said the reduction is not due to low family demand but to provider-side attendance constraints. District staff have contacted the Office of Mental Health grant contacts to determine whether grant funds could bridge the gap and have begun reviewing alternative delivery models, including virtual providers other districts use.
O'Shea said she will ask Rachel Marcel (staff) to provide more information at a future meeting; the board discussed whether a different contract model or grant support could restore more frequent access.
