Community partners report feeding families enrolled in FIT program, donor funds to be turned over to district contact

Mark Puka reported to the board that community partners and volunteers worked with the FIT program to provide holiday meals for families enrolled in the program.
Puka said the program was challenged with 188 families enrolled in FIT this year; working with Journey Church and the Green Turtle, volunteers fed families either through pickup or delivered meals. In his remarks he said, "we fed a total of 88 families, during our through our pickup line, and 33 families we delivered meals to," and that a volunteer team of 11 groups assisted by delivering meals to several communities (Callahan, Hilliard, Yulee, Fernandina Beach, and Bryceville). He said leftover funds remain and he intended to donate them to a district representative who could accept them on behalf of families.
Puka thanked partners and volunteers and said the effort will be repeated next year. The board thanked him for the community service.
