Belmont Council unanimously approves annual fee collections and consent calendar

The Belmont City Council on June 10 approved routine consent business and three separate resolutions authorizing the collection of utility-related fees on the county tax roll for fiscal year 2025–26.

Council approved the consent calendar by voice vote and then took up three public hearings. Public Works Director Nisha Patel told the council that the hearings were duly noticed and that no majority protests were received for any of the reports. She recommended the council adopt the annual reports so the city clerk could file them with the San Mateo County tax collector for collection on property tax bills.

The three measures approved were: the annual report for collection of sewer service fees to fund operation and maintenance of the city’s sewer collection and conveyance system; Belmont’s share of sewer treatment facility charges for Silicon Valley Clean Water upgrades; and the annual report for storm drainage fees to fund the city’s NPDES stormwater compliance program. Each resolution passed on a roll call vote of 5–0.

Councilmember roll-call vote totals were recorded as yes from Councilmember Jordan, Councilmember McKeown, Councilmember Latimer Lowe, Vice Mayor Peng Manganeris and Mayor Julia Mates.

The council packet includes links to the full reports and staff told the public those documents provide parcel-level detail and the fee schedules used to compute the charges.
