Commission approves Mi Casita in‑home childcare SUP for Spanish‑language program

Applicant Rocio (Rosio) Flores told the commission about her proposed Spanish‑language daycare and explained her background. Flores said, “My name is Rocio Flores. I’m 37 years old. I have been married for 17 years. I have 3 beautiful daughters,” and described the program as a Spanish education center that will combine learning and play. A neighbor letter of support was read into the record by the applicant’s husband; neighbor Sara Tolet spoke in favor and offered to enroll her child.
Commission members expressed support for licensed, locally run childcare and for adding a Spanish‑language option in town. After hearing no other public testimony, the commission moved, seconded and approved the special use permit (case 24‑06‑SUP) with the conditions outlined in the staff report. The motion passed by voice vote.
The applicant must complete licensing and meet the conditions in the staff report before operation; staff will enforce the conditions through the city’s standard permit and compliance process.
