Commission approves Republic Storage SUP modification to add on‑site manager living quarters

Jessica Hall, economic and community development specialist for Kuna, reminded the commission that the original annexation, special use permit and design review for Republic Storage at 5610 South Ten Mile Road were recommended in November 2023 and that this modification would add manager living quarters integrated into the building and office.
Hall said the addition of on‑site managers is standard for Republic Storage and “increases security and creates a better customer experience.” Applicant representative Nate Mitchell said the company was requesting the additional land use and asked the commission to recommend approval.
Commissioners discussed the security and customer service benefits of on‑site management and—after no public testimony—the commission moved, seconded and recommended approval of the special use permit modification (case 24‑08‑SUP) with the conditions outlined in the staff report. The vote was by voice; the chair called for ‘Aye’ and no opposition was announced.
The recommendation will be forwarded to the city council for final action; any exterior modifications must comply with the previously approved design review and the conditions listed in the staff report.
