The Schuylkill Valley board approved a series of consolidated motions and individual personnel items during its Jan. 27 meeting. The meeting used consolidated motions for numerous agenda blocks (committee-of-the-whole items) and the board approved the items by voice or roll-call where required. Notable outcomes included:
- Consolidated policy/personnel/public relations items (61โ63): motion passed (vote recorded as 8โ0 on the agenda). - Coaching employment: Brian Weant approved as assistant junior high softball coach at $1,750; one board member abstained due to a familial relationship (vote passed by majority with recorded abstention). - Consolidated employment items (65โ617) including retirements (for example: Thomas Evinovsky, math/science teacher, effective March 3, 2025) were approved with exclusion of a duplicate agenda line (615) and passed by voice vote. - Policies and MOUs (618โ625), including a law-enforcement MOU with Northern Berks Police and Burn Township Police, were approved (vote recorded as 8โ0). - Curriculum and technology items (71โ74) and student services items (101โ109) were approved as consolidated blocks (voice votes). - Budget & finance (81โ87) items and most buildings & grounds change orders (91โ94 and 96โ99) were approved. All approved items were recorded on the agenda and most were noted as previously discussed at committee meetings during the prior week.
