County says all housekeeping positions filled and outlines cleanliness, service-ticket improvements

Yoon Kim, Collin County's county administrator, reported to the Commissioners Court that the county has filled the housekeeping positions it created after bringing housekeeping services in-house in 2021.
Kim told the court the county now has 19 full-time housekeeping day porter positions filled, six part-time positions filled and two full-time day porter supervisors in place. The county previously created the first batch of positions in October 2021, added positions in January 2022 and split three full-time positions into six part-time positions in September 2024, Kim said.
Kim said the county launched an internal employee survey about facilities on Dec. 10, 2024, which was still open at the time of the meeting and is intended to gather feedback for quality improvements. He described immediate steps already taken in response to stakeholder input: daily trash service for the judge's chambers began Jan. 13; the county deep-cleaned carpets and tile in courthouse public areas; cleaning logs were introduced so staff can sign off on time and date for services; and the service-ticket process was updated to allow phone requests to be documented and addressed promptly.
Kim credited Ricky Thomas, the new superintendent, and the facilities team led by Mister Monk for helping implement the changes. He said two master-plumber positions and other maintenance roles remain open and HR is expanding recruitment efforts beyond Collin County.
No formal court action was taken; commissioners acknowledged the report and directed staff to continue implementing the housekeeping improvement plan.
