The bill’s sponsor said the legislation addresses a gap the Joint Public Education Appropriations Subcommittee found while reviewing programs: "This bill represents the results of that work identifying about six programs in public education that did not have a regular sunset review," Fillmore said, adding the state already has "37 public education programs that have automatic sunset dates." He said the change is intended to add legislative oversight, not to eliminate programs.
