The West Ocala CRA Advisory Committee voted to approve a residential property improvement grant application, CRA 24‑45841, for 650 Northwest 5th (Fitch Street). Marie Mesidio, economic development specialist, presented the application and noted the applicant is Antoinette Hunt, a member of the committee; Hunt stated her interest on the record and did not participate in the vote.
Mesidio said the proposal is to construct a three‑bedroom, two‑bath single‑family home on an approximately 0.37‑acre lot that was previously a homeless camp. The parcel is adjacent to the Tucker Hill redevelopment area; staff said one objective of the West Ocala CRA plan is to support infill redevelopment that provides housing choices and prioritizes investments that benefit low‑income families.
Bids submitted for construction ranged from $159,900 (low) to $170,000 (high). Mesidio said the project is eligible for the West Ocala Residential Property Improvement Grant and that the maximum residential CRA grant is $20,000. Based on the staff review, Mesidio recommended approval.
A committee member moved to approve CRA 24‑45841; another member seconded. The committee voted in favor with no opposing votes; Antoinette Hunt did not participate due to her stated conflict. Staff will forward the approved application and reimbursement paperwork for the standard processing and disbursement schedule.
Next steps: staff will prepare documentation for disbursement and monitor completion for reimbursement under the residential grant program.
