Cedar Park lays out schedule for 2025 resident survey using Polco's National Community Survey

The Cedar Park City Council received an update on plans for the 2025 resident survey, which the city will run using Polco's National Community Survey instrument.
Jacob Ward, assistant to the city manager, said the city conducts the survey every two years and that the instrument allows benchmarking against similar-sized communities. "The survey will not go to every resident. This is a statistically valid survey, and so only a small, random sample of residents will receive the survey," Ward said. Respondents will have two options to reply: an online link/QR code or a mailed paper questionnaire.
Ward said data collection is expected to begin next month, with postcards mailed to randomly selected participants; the typical response window is about seven weeks. He told council the city will run outreach through social media, the city website and the city newsletter to encourage responses. Council members asked about response rates; Ward said the last iteration returned roughly a 10% response rate (about 400 responses out of approximately 4,100 mailed) and that the city has taken steps to preserve consistent ‘‘trend’’ questions for benchmarking.
Ward said Polco will present the final analysis to council in late spring or early summer of 2025 and that the city will publish the full report on the website when ready.
