Southlake proclaims Nov. 11 Veterans Day; city to host ceremony and employee recognition

Operations Manager Melody Anderson told the council the city will display yellow ribbons, military branch flags and American flags in Family Park, place a “veteran thank you” town‑hall banner and host an employee veteran luncheon. Anderson said the city currently has 31 employees who have served in the armed forces and invited the community to a Nov. 11 ceremony at 9 a.m. in front of Town Hall; the community band will perform and retired Colonel Rick Resch will speak.
Lieutenant Colonel Matt Hines (commander, 50th Network Warfare Squadron, Offutt AFB) told the council Veterans Day honors both service members and the families who serve alongside them. “Veterans Day reminds us that freedom doesn't come from slogans or speeches,” Hines said, and urged residents to remember service through both gratitude and action.
Mayor Sean McCaskill read the proclamation on behalf of the city and invited veterans to come forward for a group photo. No formal vote was required for the proclamation.
