The Village of Lakemore council on Nov. 3 adopted Resolution 7508‑2025 authorizing the mayor to enter an intergovernmental agreement with the city of Akron and the Akron Municipal Court for prosecutorial services for certain criminal and traffic cases for calendar years 2025 through 2027.
The resolution states that the agreement is incorporated by reference as an exhibit to the resolution and that the arrangement is necessary to continue prosecutorial services and facilitate payment for those services. Council declared the measure an emergency, saying uninterrupted legal services are necessary for the general welfare of the village.
Council moved and adopted the resolution by roll call. The resolution will take effect immediately if the two‑thirds vote required for emergency measures was recorded; otherwise it will take effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
Next steps: The mayor is authorized to execute the intergovernmental agreement; the village will continue to work with Akron to ensure prosecutorial coverage for appropriate cases in Akron Municipal Court for 2025–2027.
