Members of the Salinas Youth Council presented an administrative update to the city council, describing recent and planned activities.
Marisol Mederos, Youth Council chair, said students serve on a superintendent advisory committee and that the city manager and mayor have attended youth council meetings. The youth council reported work on community events, youth-led public safety and arts projects, and a $2,500 County grant application to fund five social-media public-service announcements. Council members praised the youth for their energy and encouraged continued engagement with city boards and events.
Councilmembers asked about membership numbers and school participation; youth council staff said the body currently has 11 seats filled and is recruiting additional schools to join. Council members invited youth to continue advising on city programming and to return with project updates.
