Contractor to cut over Braeburn/Saunders water main; residents in ~22 properties to get boil notices

Director Kevin Witt told trustees the contractor handling the Braeburn and Saunders Road water-main repair has ‘‘confirmed that they will do the cut over this coming Monday’’ and that ‘‘notices will be sent out to about 22 properties affected in the area.’’ He said boil-water notices will be sent to affected property owners and ‘‘It's likely they will be having to boil water for at least 24 hours’’ following the cutover; Witt estimated a full shutdown would be ‘‘from early morning probably through midafternoon’’ if work proceeds without complication.

Witt also reported the village signed a contract with Huff & Huff for borings and preliminary analysis related to the Boerne Gate water-main work; borings are being scheduled and notices will be sent to residents before field activity begins.

On broader utility capital work, Velasquez and Witt said much of the 2025 capital budget did not occur as planned because of permitting delays (notably a reservoir permit) and postponed Saunders Road work. They said television inspection data will guide future sewer capital projects and that lift-station and grinder-pump maintenance remain on the near-term project list.

Why it matters: the immediate operational issue — a temporary shutdown with a boil-water notice for up to 24 hours affecting about two dozen properties — is a public-safety and service-notification priority. Longer-term, delays to permitted capital work and lift-station needs mean the village must sequence projects carefully and may shift expenditures into 2026.
