LaSalle County Board approved an ordinance (petition 25-24) authorizing a special use for guest accommodations at 2576 North State Route 178 in Deer Park Township. The zoning board of appeals had heard evidence at a public hearing on Oct. 15, 2025 and unanimously recommended approval to the county board.
County staff explained the subject property is in an A-1 agriculture district and the special use would allow short-term stays (the county packet described the use as the local zoning term for Airbnb/VRBO operations of under 30 days). The property is described as a roughly 1.5- to 2-acre parcel with an existing structure that sometimes had served as a small house or schoolhouse historically.
Board members asked clarifying questions about the sites location and the character of surrounding parcels. With no further public comment, a motion to approve the special use passed by voice vote.
Provenance: Petition introduced at 00:10:27; vote recorded shortly after the staff presentation.
