Monticello Schools accept $6,804 in community donations to support students

The Monticello Public School District board voted unanimously Nov. 3 to accept three community donations totaling $6,804 to support student needs and classroom materials.The donations described by Superintendent Eric Olsen included an anonymous $5,000 installment to help students in need at the middle school; $524 from the Monticello Rotary Club designated for hats and gloves across district buildings and programs; and $1,280 from the Rotary for third-grade novels for Little Mountain and dictionaries for Pinewood’s third-grade students.
“Thank you again for our community and our anonymous donor again for donating that money,” Olsen said during the presentation of the gifts. The district’s acceptance motion was moved by Jeff Hegley and seconded by Mayor Bartel; the board approved the resolution 5-0.
The superintendent noted the Rotary’s long-running support for third-grade literacy projects, and the board offered public thanks for donor support. No conditions or strings on the donations were reported in the board presentation.
