Commission fails to overrule planning board on Miller rezoning; approval motion fails 6–7

A motion to approve Resolution 25-08-01, which would rezone a parcel in the Fifth Civil District owned by Ralph and Tracy Miller for a mini-warehouse (storage) facility, failed on roll call after the planning commission had unanimously recommended denial.

Ralph Tracy Miller, the petitioner, described the proposal as a single-level metal storage building with chain-link fencing, security lights and cameras. “There will be 0 living in it,” Miller said, adding that anyone found living in the units would be evicted. He told commissioners he had researched nearby spot-zoned properties and did not believe the proposal would be out of character for the area.
