Emery County commissioners approve routine votes including $200,000 rural grant, BLM contract and Green River meeting

The Emery County Commission on Oct. 7 approved a bundle of motions ranging from routine consent items to multi-agency contracts and grant acceptances.

The commission voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda and then approved the sale of county parcel 01-151E-0024 in Green River to the highest bidder, G. Todd Mars, for $1,250. Commissioners also ratified a 2026 "children and teen enhancement" mini grant totaling $14,500, allocated across the county's branch libraries.

Commissioners approved an $8,400-per-year rental agreement for a Wheeler backhoe loader (up to 300 hours annually) and accepted a revised law-enforcement services contract with the Bureau of Land Management. The BLM contract was described as moving from per-hour billing to a guaranteed payment schedule while requiring a set number of committed hours.

The commission adopted a resolution to hold its Oct. 21, 2025 meeting in Green River, followed by a 5 p.m. town hall at the Green River senior center. Several property-assessment corrections were approved: one correction removed an assessed value of $242,201 and a 2025 tax amount of $3,660.81 from parcel 01-0151-0038, and several parcels associated with a solar project near Moore were approved to remain on greenbelt classification for 2025.

The board also approved a service agreement to allow the county attorney's office access to sheriff's office body-camera evidence and accepted a $200,000 rural county grant (contract #260632825) from the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity for local economic-development projects.
