Muskego planners urge owner responsibility, review of rules for exterior donation bins after fires and dumping

Muskego City planning staff told the Planning Commission on Oct. 7 that the city has seen multiple instances of exterior clothing- and recycling-donation bins being placed without required permits, sometimes with piles of donated material left beside them and, in at least one case, a bin that was burned out and later replaced.

Adam, a city planning staff member, said staff has received repeated inquiries from vendors over the past decade and that many bins are placed “without ever getting a permit approval,” and that staff occasionally finds bins with material left outside or damaged by fire.
