Wright County drainage trustees approve claims and a riprap work order for DD 23

The Wright County Board of Supervisors recessed on Sept. 29 to meet as drainage trustees and approved several drainage claims and a work order.
Courtney Morris, drainage administrator, presented nine drainage invoices. The trustees were told 41 quote-request letters had been mailed at a postage cost of $30.34; the remaining invoices were brush and weed-control charges for multiple drainage districts (line-item amounts were presented for DD 49-90 Lateral A, DD 111-3, DD 4 Lateral 1, DD 216, DD 62, DD 11, DD 18, and DD 13). After confirming three of the initially presented claims were the responsibility of another county, the trustees approved six claims totaling $4,280.34.
Trustees also reviewed a work order for DD 23 in Lincoln Township, Section 9, to add riprap to the north side of a wooden bulkhead on the Meacham Revocable Trust property where a structure was exposed; photos of the location were provided. The trustees approved the work order and signed open drainage invoices where needed.
Why it matters: Approved claims fund maintenance and vegetation control in drainage districts; the riprap work order addresses an exposed structure that can impede flow and cause local drainage issues.
Follow-up: Trustees asked staff to confirm removal of interfering boulders reported in another ditch and to confirm that riprap installation restored appropriate flow at DD 23.
