Garfield County sets September highway spending limits totaling $6.74 million; approves routine claims and appropriations

The Board of County Commissioners of Garfield County on Sept. 2 adopted three resolutions that set maximum monthly highway expenditures for September 2025 totaling $6,741,623.78.

Resolution #25-106, adopted by unanimous vote, set maximum highway expenditures at $3,714,721.42 for September 2025. Resolution #25-107, adopted by unanimous vote, set the CBRI (County Bridge and Road Improvement) maximum for September at $2,773,617.26. Resolution #25-108, adopted by unanimous vote, set the CIRB maximum for September at $253,285.10. Votes on the resolutions were recorded as Aye: Clarence Maly, Reese Wedel and Joe Kegin Jr.; Nay: none.

The board also approved Cash Fund Estimate of Needs and Request for Appropriation entries for Highway Unrestricted in the amounts of $18.44 and $17,847.04; both motions carried unanimously. Commissioner Joe Kegin Jr. moved several routine items, including examination and approval of prior-year and current-year warrants, purchase orders and claims across multiple funds (General, Highway Unrestricted, Health Department, Sheriff service fee, Sheriff—s Training Fund and Rural Fire Departments). The claims list included vendors such as Yellowhouse Machinery Co. (two warrants of $12,996.61 and $2,956.84) and Security National Bank (lease rental $6,568.76), among others; the board approved the list by unanimous vote.

In an earlier vote, Kegin moved to approve the minutes of the Aug. 25, 2025 meeting. The minutes motion passed with Aye votes from Chairman Clarence Maly and Kegin; Vice-Chairman Reese Wedel recorded an abstention.

No formal action was taken on two new-business items: Chairman Maly reported receipt of an application for cremation of an indigent person, and the board discussed handrail styles for courthouse entrances. Agenda items not acted upon were carried over to a later date. With no further business the board adjourned to meet Sept. 8, 2025.
