Ashland Council removes obsolete alarm-code and amends Hamilton Creek floodplain map
Summary
On Aug. 5 the Ashland City Council adopted Ordinance 3270 to remove Chapter 4.32 (Alarm Systems) from the Ashland Municipal Code and adopted Ordinance 3261 removing the locally adopted Ashland Modified Floodplain from Hamilton Creek, approving the attached findings and conclusions of law.
The Ashland City Council adopted two ordinances on Aug. 5, 2025: Ordinance 3270, which removes Chapter 4.32 (Alarm Systems) from the Ashland Municipal Code, and Ordinance 3261, which amends the City’s officially adopted Physical and Environmental Constraints Map by removing the locally adopted Ashland Modified Floodplain from Hamilton Creek.
City Recorder Alissa Kolodzinski explained that the alarm-systems chapter was no longer applicable and Finance Director Marianne Berry was available to answer questions. Councilor Bloom moved to approve the second reading and adoption of Ordinance 3270; Councilor DuQuenne seconded. Roll call vote: Dahle, Bloom, DuQuenne, Kaplan, Sherrell and Hansen, YES. Motion passed.
Community Development Director Brandon Goldman answered questions about the Hamilton Creek mapping amendment. Councilor Bloom moved to approve the second reading of Ordinance 3261 and adopt the Council findings and conclusions of law; Councilor Hansen seconded. Roll call vote: Hansen, Dahle, Bloom, DuQuenne, Kaplan, and Sherrell, YES. Motion passed.
The ordinances were second readings and adoptions, indicating the matters had been discussed at prior meetings and in public hearings. The meeting packet attached staff reports and findings supporting the Hamilton Creek map amendment, and staff noted the ordinances take effect per the standard schedule unless otherwise specified in the ordinance text.
