Hayden council asks clerk to add statutes cited in Aug. 29 executive session minutes

A council member moved that the city clerk be asked to include the two Idaho statutes that were cited at the beginning of the Aug. 29 executive session in those meeting minutes so the public record reflects the precise legal authorities discussed.

The motion prompted discussion about whether the statutes had in fact been stated during the prior meeting and whether the clerk should verify the audio before adding the citations. Legal counsel asked staff to review the meeting audio to confirm the exact language before the clerk amends the minutes. A roll-call vote to amend the minutes to direct the clerk to include the cited statutes passed unanimously.

Another member asked that the clerk "go back and listen to audio and just make sure that the 2 statutes that were just cited in the motion actually match what was mentioned in the meeting." The council did not adopt or change any policy in the meeting; the action directed staff to verify audio and, if confirmed, include the statutes in the Aug. 29 special meeting minutes.
