The Coconino County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Aug. 26 to adopt a rewritten Coconino County Unified Health Code and a companion update to the county’s unlicensed‑establishments ordinance.
The amendments, drafted and presented by Health and Human Services deputy director Eve Walters, reorganize the county’s health code into 17 chapters, update language and definitions, and add provisions to address contemporary issues such as glamping (luxury camping), community kitchens, cold‑plunge facilities and new food ingredients. The rewrite also clarifies inspection, plan‑review and variance processes and adds targeted enforcement tools.
